Worship Ministry

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, On an instrument of ten strings, On the lute, And on the harp, With harmonious sound. For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.”
– Psalm 92:1-4

Our Worship Ministry is a team of musicians within our church family dedicated to the pursuit of knowing Jesus, and glorifying him alone through music.  Our music style is Contemporary Praise and Worship.  It is called Praise and Worship because it is created to focus solely on Jesus Christ, who he is as God and what he has done for mankind.  The purpose of the Worship Ministry is to create an opportunity to give thanks, praise and adoration to Jesus through music .  We believe that worshiping Jesus is intimate and personal whether it is individually or collectively as a church family.  Musically speaking, we call it “contemporary” because it consist of modern instruments such as bass, acoustic, and electric guitars, piano and synthesizers, and percussion instruments such as a full drum set, cajon and jimbe.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the Worship Ministry, please consider the following:

1.  Do you consider Calvary Chapel Elizabeth City your home church?

2.  Have you been faithfully attending Calvary Chapel Elizabeth City for at least 3 months?

3.  Do you have a “heart of worship”?  Simply put, your desire must be to glorify Jesus through your musical giftings.  Not using the worship stage as a platform to showcase your talent.

4.  Do you have a “heart of commitment”?  We require our worship team members to attend church regularly and highly encourage serving in other ministry opportunities when possible.

5.  Are you proficient in your musical gifting?  While we do not expect virtuosity, we do expect that you possess technical competence with your singing and/or instrument as well as being comfortable on stage.

6.  Are you willing to make a positive contribution to the worship team environment?  We require you possess a desire for the following:   Being modestly and appropiately dressed,  be consistently on time,  being prepared with your assigned music and singing arrangements, adjusting your musical preference as directed, and taking directives from our Pastoral Team.

If you answered yes to the questions above, you are invited to begin the process of becoming a part of the Worship Ministry.  Please see Pastor John Barrera.
